Sri Lanka Visa Extension Due to Events in the Middle East

03.03.2026

Due to the escalating situation in the Middle East and the inability of Belarusian citizens to depart Sri Lanka on previously booked tickets, the Embassy informs that Sri Lankan authorities have decided to extend visas free of charge for 14 days for all tourists currently in the country.
Passengers must provide proof of their inability to travel due to flight cancellation, such as boarding passes, flight cancellation notifications, or airline confirmations.
Visa extensions can be obtained at the airport immigration office.
The Tourist Information Centre at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) operates an emergency tourist hotline (1912), providing linguistic and logistical assistance.
The Airport and Aviation Services hotline (1994) is available 24/7 to answer specific inquiries regarding flight status, airport facilities, and airline operations.
Sri Lankan Airlines Assistance: Passengers of the national flag carrier can contact the airline on 1979 for domestic flights or + 94 11 777 1979 for international flights for rebooking and flight status.
