Scientific and Technical Cooperation

In 2012, an Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on Cooperation in Science and Technology and a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Bangladeshi Academy of Sciences on Scientific and Technical Cooperation were signed.

A Joint Belarusian-Bangladeshi Commission for Cooperation in Science and Technology is functioning.

On April 8-9, 2015, the first meeting of the Joint Commission was held in Dhaka.

On March 29-30, 2017, the second meeting of the Joint Commission was held in Minsk. The Executive Program of Scientific, Technical and Innovative Cooperation for 2017-2018 was signed at the meeting.

During the bilateral contacts, the prospects for cooperation in the information and telecommunications sectors, in the field of cybersecurity, and in using the capabilities and resources of the Belarusian satellite for the needs of the economy of Bangladesh were noted. Taking into account the high achievements of Belarus in the IT sphere, the Bangladeshi Side is considering the possibility of cooperation with the residents of the High-Tech Park in Minsk.

The possibility of holding the third meeting of the Joint Commission in 2020 in a format of a video conference is being considered.

In October 2015, within the framework of the MAGATE technical cooperation program, a scientific delegation headed by the Minister of Science and Technology of Bangladesh visited Belarus to get acquainted with the implementation of the nuclear energy program of the Republic of Belarus.
