History of the Embassy of Belarus in India

After the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of India on April 17, 1992, six years later in June 1998, the Embassy of Belarus in India was opened for the first time in the area of ​​Vasant Vihar. Subsequently, in 2001 the Embassy building was moved to the Jor Bagh area of New Delhi.

Since December 2011 the Embassy has returned to the Vasant Vihar area of Delhi NCR, where it is located to this day at F-6/8B, Vasant Vihar, New Delhi – 110057.

The first Belarusian Ambassador to India Vladimir Arkadievich Sokolovsky (also spelled as Uladzimir Sakalouski) was appointed on March 13, 1998 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No.110.

Ambassador Vladimir Sokolovsky was also the first Belarusian non-resident Ambassador to the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

The first Counselor for trade and economic issues at the Embassy was Andrey Dashutin, who worked at the mission from June 1998 to October 2001. The Embassy keeps a photo album with views of Minsk and Belarusian nature, presented by Andrey Dashutin.

From 1999 to 2002 First Secretary Konstantin Mayerovich was the first consular officer of the Embassy, ​​who was also responsible for political and humanitarian cooperation.

Oleg Laptenok, a career diplomat, became the second head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in India.

Vladimir Goshin became the third Ambassador of Belarus to India.

Vitaly Prima became the first Belarusian Ambassador to India, cross-accredited in Sri Lanka and Nepal.

On February 1, 2019, Andrei Rzheussky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of India and to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (concurrently), presented his credentials to the President of Sri Lanka H.E. Mr. Maithripala Sirisena.
