Festival «Kupalye («Alexandria Gathers Friends»)

At the height of summer, Belarus celebrates one of the oldest folk festivals dedicated to the Sun and the flowering of the Earth. The rites and rituals of Kupala originated from the pagan times. During the holiday, people thanked also powerful elements – Fire, Water, Earth. Nowadays, the holiday is celebrated on the night of 6 to 7 July.
In 2019, the Holiday «Kupala» («Alexandria Gathers Ffriends») will traditionally be held on the banks of the Dnieper river in the agricultural town of Alexandria, Shklov district. The theme of the third anniversary of the Small Motherland will be the main at the holiday.
The geography of the Festival is constantly expanding. This July, Alexandria will gather friends from Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, etc., who will be represented by folk art groups and masters of arts and crafts. Thematic sites of the festival will be open for two days.
The exhibition-fair «Alexandriysk Fair» all regions of the country will present branded festivals, competitions, celebrations, workshops, unique traditions, customs, legends, traditions, historical and cultural values, crafts, dishes of each region of Belarus.
On the small stage on the first day of the Festival there will be an opening of the Festival and three concerts, where creative teams from the regions of Belarus and the participating countries, children’s ensembles of Mogilev region, professional artists of the Dnieper region will perform. At the night of 6 to 7 July, there will be a youth disco with the participation of domestic artists.
The culmination of the first day of the Holiday will be a high-tech music show – gala concert «Zroblena y Belarusi» (Made in Belarus») and fireworks.
On «Alexandriysky Guest Site» retail outlets will function. Guests will be able to taste the food cooked in front of the visitors (barbecue, pancakes with stuffing, draniki, etc.). Tastings will also be arranged during the Holiday.
