On the events dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

In the framework of the events dedicated to the 74th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945) and the upcoming celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Liberation of Belarus from fascism (July 3rd, 1944), the Embassy of Belarus in cooperation with the Russian center of science and culture (RCSC) in New Delhi in the RCSC premises on May 7th, 2019 organized an Exhibition of Documentary Photographs devoted to the struggle of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. 20 black-and-white photos of the wartime, reflecting the atrocities of the Nazis, the theme of the partisan movement and the liberation of the territory of Belarus from Nazi invaders were displayed at the Exhibition.
In addition, on May 7th, 2019, the Embassy of Belarus and the RCSC organized Seminar «The Impact and Lessons of the Great Victory of the Soviet People Over Fascism For Mankind». The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions of Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, employees of the embassies of Belarus and Russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, representatives of other Indian government agencies, public associations and media.
In his speech, the Head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission reflected the main milestones in the history of the liberation struggle of the Belarusian people during the War, including the large-scale guerrilla and underground movement, gave examples of mass heroism of Belarusian citizens, as well as figures indicating the human, material, cultural and other losses suffered by the Belarusian people during the years of the national trial.
A particular attention was paid to the problem associated with attempts of the Western countries to falsify the nature, significance and results of the Great Patriotic War, which became the main battleground during the Second World War.
All speakers emphasized the need for further efforts to ensure an objective perception of the impact and results of the Great Patriotic War and by the young generations, in particular.
On the sidelines of the events, the Head of the diplomatic mission gave an interview to the TASS correspondent, in which the most important aspects of the heroic struggle of the people of Belarus against Nazi invaders and the liberation of the Belarusian land from fascism were highlighted.
