About the evacuation charter “Delhi-Minsk” by Belavia Airlines

08.07.2020

On July 7-8, 2020, jointly by the Indian Embassy in Belarus and Belarus Embassy in India, together with the travel agency Skytim Agency LLC, the B2-9925/9926 evacuation flights by Belavia Airlines was arranged to transport Indian students and Belarusian and Foreign nationals from India to Belarus.

Thankfully to the coordinated efforts of all parties, it became possible to organize such a flight to return home citizens of different countries through Belarus by the same charter that was originally planned for the evacuation of 76 Indian students exclusively from Belarus (“Minsk-Delhi”).

By the same “Minsk-Delhi” (B2-9925) flight 9 OJSC “BelAZ” specialists also arrived to India for a business trip in order to fulfill the contractual obligations under the strategically important BelAZ contract with the “Coal India”, the largest Indian mining PSU-company for the supply and assembly of the Belarusian dumpers.

29 citizens of the Republic of Belarus flew back to Minsk, including two families with young children on favorable terms. This flight also evacuated from India: Russian citizens — 34 people, citizens of Ukraine and Moldova — 4 people each, Lithuanian citizens — 3 people, France, India and Latvia — 2 people each, Serbia and Canada — 1 person each. In total there were 82 passengers of 10 nationalities boarded.

It should be noted that this is the third flight of the Belarusian carrier Belavia Airlines from Belarus to India and back organized together with the Embassy of Belarus in India. Previous flights were organized on April 5 and 25 from Delhi and Dabolim (Goa), respectively. The fundamental difference between Belarusian evacuation flights from the similar ones by other international air was the opportunity of the maximum possible comfortable conditions provided for passengers. So, on April 5, the Belavia flight from Delhi to Minsk was organized for citizens, including other nationalities, free-of-charge. The payment terms for the flight from Dabolim to Belarus on April 25, 2020 comprised the option of the payment deadline extension till the end of this year.

Despite all the difficulties of the quarantine/lockdown in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the Maldives, the Embassy has managed to assist the return of 516 Belarusians and 214 foreign citizens of 14 nationalities to their homeland.

Great assistance in the evacuation of Belarusian citizens from these countries was provided by the foreign missions of Russia, as well as by the Embassy of Ukraine in Delhi. Russian and Ukrainian diplomats were in constant contact with Belarusian diplomats, representatives of the air carriers “Aeroflot”, “Rossiya”, “SkyUp”.
With the help of joint efforts and with the support of Russian and Ukrainian colleagues, the Belarusian side evacuated the following number of stranded compatriots: from Sri Lanka — 27 people, from Bangladesh – 29 people, from Maldives — 11, from Nepal — 5.

The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in India expresses gratitude to all involved in this uneasy job.\
