On Holding of the Belarusian-Indian Commission on Cooperation in Science and Technology

On August 5th, 2020, the 9th meeting of the Joint Belarusian-Indian Commission on Cooperation in Science and Technology was held in a videoconference format.


The Belarusian Delegation was headed by Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Science and Technology Dr.S.S. Sherbakov, the Indian Delegation – Adviser and Head, International Cooperation, Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Science and Technology Mr.S.K. Varshney.


The Belarusian Delegation included the Ambassador of Belarus to India, representatives of the State Committee on Science and Technology, the Belarusian Institute for System Analysis and Information Support of Scientific and Technical Sphere, RPUE «Academpharm», and employees of other scientific and research organizations.


The Indian Delegation was represented by Ambassador of India to Belarus, the Ministry of External Affairs, Embassy of India in Russia, Departments of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Indian Academy of Sciences, the Indian Council of Medical Research, International Centre for Perspective Studies in Powder Metallurgy and New Materials, International Science and Technology Affairs Directorate, and other Indian bodies.


During the meeting, the heads of delegations presented the capabilities of their organizations with a focus on priority areas of bilateral cooperation. There was an open and constructive dialogue on the state and prospects of Belarusian-Indian cooperation in the scientific, technical and research fields, as well as a substantive conversation between partner organizations of the two countries. The Parties noted with satisfaction the progress of joint research projects in the fields of energy, ICT, bio — and agrotechnology, medicine and pharmaceuticals, for the implementation of which targeted funding was allocated.


An agreement was reached to coordinate the selection of new research projects for joint implementation in 2021 and to organize two seminars / webinars in 2020-2021. Executive Program for Scientific, Technical and Innovative Cooperation for 2020-2022 was agreed. The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission will be held in India in 2022.
