Bilateral Relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Nepal were established on July 19, 1993. In April 2008, the newly elected Constituent Assembly declared the country a federative democratic republic, and a month later abolished the monarchy.
On March 17, 2014, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of India H.E. Mr. Vitaly A. Prima was concurrently appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal with the residence in New Delhi.
In August 2000, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus issued an exequatur for the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Nepal in the Republic of Belarus Mr. Upendra Mahato.
On November 24, 2009, Mr. Ajeya Raj Sumargi Parajuli was appointed the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Kathmandu.
To support and develop contacts between the legislatures of both the countries, a working group on cooperation with the Parliament of Nepal was formed in the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the sixth convocation.
Twin-city relations have been established between Minsk and the capital of Nepal Katmandu.
With the assistance of the Embassy and in cooperation with the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus a humanitarian cargo was delivered to Nepal for the earthquake victims in the spring of 2015.

Trade and economic cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and Nepal is not considerably extensive.

The volume of Belarusian-Nepalese trade in 2017 amounted to 2,960.6 thousand US Dollars and was formed mainly by imports from Nepal.
In order to develop trade and economic cooperation, a series of mutual visits of business circles of the two countries is being worked out, including under the auspices of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the assistance of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Katmandu Mr. Ajeya Raj Sumargi Parajuli and the Honorary Consul of Nepal in the Republic of Belarus Mr. Upendra Mahato.

The legal basis for the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation is in the process of formation.
The parties consider the draft Agreement between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Education of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal on Cooperation in the Field of Education.
Contacts in the areas of science and culture with Nepal are not carried out on a regular basis.
